Dr. Valavanur A. Subramanian is chairman of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. Dr. Subramanian is the founder and past president of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Surgery (ISMICS). He is also the author of over 150 medical articles. He is the inventor of Mitral Bridge for the treatment of Mitral Regurgitation. He is the founder , Director of the board and the prior Chief Medical officer of the company HRT-Heart repair Technologies Inc. which developed the Mitral Bridge. He is an experienced cardiac surgeon with clinical and investigative experience of 42 years in the cardiovascular medicine. He has invented and innovated many devices in this field..first disposable Membrane oxygenerator,first percutaneous intr.aortic ballon pump,pioneer in minimimally invasive cardiac surgery…introduced and performed the first MIDCAB in U.S.A. He has been the pioneer and innovator in the field of Off pump CABG.
Recently over the past decade his main areas of innovation has been in the area of Mitral and Tricuspid Regurgitation The New York Times Magazine lists him as one of New York’s best heart surgeons in the last 15 years. He has attended many medical conferences from the Philippines to Europe and India. His innovative research has made him one of the pioneers in minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery.
